Part A
Directions: In this part of the test, you will hear 2 passages in English. After you have heard each sentence or paragraph, interpret it into Chinese. Start interpreting at the signal...and stop it at the signal...You may take notes while you are listening. Remember you will hear the passages only once. Now, let us begin Part A with the first passage.
Passage 1 is about how Champagne brings love, romantic feelings and unique flavors to people.
Passage 1:
Well，Champagne is simply the most romantic drink. We are all excited at the pop of the opening cork, the sigh of the release of gas, and the gentle, alluring fizz as the glass fills.
本 篇摘选自教材第七单元第二篇The Romantic Champagne(P174)。事实上，2011年下半年的口译考试中也曾经出现过以这篇文章为基础的一篇考题。如果考生已经对教材非常熟悉，那么 champagne(有许多考生竟不知champagne为何物)，pop，cork，sigh，fizz等字眼就应该是手到擒来。
Champagne is one of the world’s unique flavors. A bottle of good champagne is an expression of love and romance. Indeed, the link between the happy life and fizz is close.
the link between A and B结构表示“A与B之间的联系/关系”，此处的link可换为connection，association等，望大家灵活运用。
While all the countries can produce wine, only the Champagne region of France can produce this drink. The tiny carbon dioxide bubbles in champagne allow the body to absorb alcohol very quickly.
本段并不比上一段难多少，但是通过率很低。许多考生对本段进行断章取义的理解与翻译。所谓断章取义是指忽视原句语法结构，因听力不及而将捕捉到的只言片语按照自己的想象重新发挥，这是考生在口译中常见的毛病。如有些考生只听到countries can produce…champagne…France，就将其发挥成“所有国家都产香槟，法国的香槟最好”;只听到…champagne...absorb alcohol very quickly，就发挥成“香槟可以很快吸收酒精”等等。听力中这种断章取义的现象屡见不鲜，除了因为紧张导致精力不集中，还可因为对重读、连读、发音等语音知识不熟悉、不敏感以及对句式结构误判而产生发音、语义等理解障碍。听力理解中的语音知识固然重要，但是对于句法知识或者说句子结构的理解却是基础。比如，笔者在教学中发现，像The book on the desk against the wall is white这一结构并不复杂的句子也经常被学生误读成“墙是白色的”，那么这句话如出现在听力中应为还需要加入语音解读错误率就更高了。应当说，句子阅读理解是听力理解的基础，望大家在阅读与听力练习时慎重对待句子结构。
This facet makes champagne what many call “the ultimate drink,” and also means that just one glass is enough to raise the romantic temperature for those who don’t like to drink much alcohol.
本句也因为结构较为复杂让许多考生断章取义而错翻。如果将前半句还原成A makes B what many call C，则看到make的“A使B成为...”的基本用法，而what many call “the ultimate drink”实际上就是在说the ultimate drink，所以整个结构可意译为“这…使得champagne成为the ultimate drink”。试想，本段换做笔译写于纸上，也必定有相当数量的考生因句子结构理解问题而译错。可见，句子分析在听力理解中也占有重要地位。为此，望大家在阅读与听力练习时慎重对待句子结构。

虽然世界各国都能酿酒，但是只有法国香槟地区才能酿造出这种汽酒。香槟酒里的那些二氧化碳小气泡使人体能够极快地吸收酒精。

Passage 2 is a “thank-you” speech delivered by a state leader at a farewell party after his visit to China.
本篇改编自教材第五单元第一篇Revisiting the Old Haunt(P127)。事实上，2011年的口译考试中也曾经出现过以这篇文章为基础的一篇考题。
Passage 2:
Closing to the end of our visit, I would like to express our heart-felt thanks to our Chinese hosts for their extraordinary arrangements and hospitality, although I know quite clearly that I can never thank them enough.
本段通过率较高，从end of…visit，thanks，arrangements，hospitality等字眼即可得出本段要旨。
In a 7-day short friendly visit, we have acquired a keen sense of the dynamism and progress of China under your policies of reform and opening up. We are very much impressed by the great changes that have taken place in China.
本段较易通过，但dynamism(精力，活力，干劲)一词给许多考生造成了障碍，影响了其本段后面部分的听与译。
China is to us a memorable and nostalgic home. During our stay here, we have spent a great deal of pleasant time with the Chinese people ---meeting state leaders, talking to university students and visiting places of historic interest.
本段的通过率不高，一个原因是连读的问题，如第一句中…us a memorable and nostalgic home，考生对speaker的连读不明就里，这就需要考生在听力练习时注意speaker的连读，在朗读的时候注意学会正确的连读，这样方能达到对 speaker的连读轻车熟路的地步。另一个原因是本段meeting…，talking…，visiting…的平行结构许多考生未能有效做笔记。这样多项罗列的情况下单凭硬性记忆收效甚微，做笔记是绝对必要的。

本段是外交的套话。诸如friendly and cooperative ties，all aspects of our lives等表达在听力中都比较容易捕捉并口译。
