新东方的课堂上我们从来把四字短语的翻译作为高口的重点，同学们通过我们的课程教学，一定是如箭在弦，蓄势待发，在高口的翻译部分找到了用武之地。一．并列关系：柴米油盐f
一．并列关系：柴米油盐fuel, rice, cooking oil and salt --- daily necessities 酒色财气wine, women, avarice and pride --- the cardinal vices 吾辈凡夫 we ordinary people 对于并列关系，我们采用连词and连接，或者利用同位语进行并置（吾辈凡夫）。这里的“柴米油盐”“ 酒色财气”是用具体指代抽象，所以再添加抽象总体的所指含义翻译较好。二．省略重复信息：大彻大悟greatly discerning; great awakening; supreme enlightenment 我行我素follow one's bent; follow one’s bigoted course; have one's own way; take one’s own course; arbitrarily; wilfully 忙忙碌碌 rush about; on a rush 这里的“大彻大悟”“ 我行我素”含有重复的信息，不需要重复翻译。三．动宾关系：饱经风霜endure all the hardships; have weathered many storms 世事洞明grasp / command mundane affairs 从心而欲follow one’s heart’s desires; do as one pleases 自得其乐 take delight in; be content with one’s lot 这里的四个短语都包含动词和它们的宾语，处理为动宾结构即可。四．省略过多动词：倚老卖老take advantage of one’s seniority; get self-conceited because of seniority; presume on old age 中文的动词量较大，翻译成英语的时候切勿采用过多动词，适当省略。
